Gus Barakis, owner and founder of
Scarlett Hill Farm, has been involved with horses since
he was a young boy at his father's farm in Fort Worth,
Texas. In 1978 he entered the running horse business,
and in 1984 he founded Scarlett Hill Farm and began
standing stallions to the public. Careful consideration
was given to choosing the correct location for the new
farm, and countless hours were spent planning the layout
and facilities. Safety and efficiency were the first
priority. Continuous attention to needed improvements
assures that Scarlett Hill Farm offers the very best to
its clients.
Throughout the years, Scarlett Hill
Farm has stood some of the most successful stallions in
the breed, for some of the most prominent stallion
owners in the industry. To quote Mr. Barakis, " We are
very proud of the people that have entrusted their
valuable stallions to us, and the quality of those
stallions."
Through the years, many stakes
horses have been bred and raised at Scarlett Hill Farm:
some raised and raced under the farm name (including
World Champion Three-Year-Old Filly
Significant
Speed
and stakes winning Thoroughbred stallion
Relagate), and some bought and raced by others.
Scarlett Hill Farm get have earned well in excess of
$5,000,000.
Gus Barakis has worked many hours at
developing an eye for a good horse.
"I have made
it a point to look at every stakes winning or stakes
producing mare that has come across our place in order
to determine what conformation qualities and mental
attitude combined to make her the quality mare she is. I
attribute that continuous scrutiny as the reason we have
been so successful in breeding and raising as many
stakes horses as we have."
The people at
Scarlett Hill Farm know horses and know how to do a good
job for you. The farm adheres to an ethic of
honesty and integrity, and continually
seeks to offer its clientele the utmost in quality
stallions, quality service, and safety to protect your
valuable assets.
